Memory and Nature
The name Akodu comes from the word for “banana” in Ewe, a widely spoken dialect in West Africa. A subtle play on words that reflects the inspiration behind this bag, whose silhouette evokes the broad banana leaves swaying in the sky, gently carried by the soft winds of African nights.
The bag’s midnight blue color pays tribute to these peaceful moments: a starry night in Africa, a light breeze brushing the skin, and, when you look up, the poetic contrast of banana leaves against the vastness of the sky. Akodu was born from a memory — a walk along the coast of Lomé, Togo, my homeland.
